Congrats to the UW Mens basketball program for coming thru and winning the PAC-10 tourney and securing them a spot in the NCAA big dance. Such an amazing past 3 games of basketball. Dawgs always pick the good time to get hot and come through in the clutch. Big props to our 2 rookie starters and obviously IT for playing his heart out in pretty much every minute of every game in the tournament...Lil Zeke showed his leadership and ability to gel the team together, which was evident in the fact that the close games were going in our favor unlike previous losses during the regular season.
When IT did his cross-over to fade away jump shot I knew it was gold...best feeling ever. I present the last 3min of regulation when we started hitting tre-balls and OT..enjoy
Back to Back Pac...bring on Georgia!
Also I cant stop watching and going through the footage of the Japan earthquake. Below is a link that shows a before after of some of the jacked up areas...really tough to imagine even being in anything close to that situation. If you all can, I strongly urge you to donate a little coin..
Earthquake zone
I assume most by now have heard about the Earthquake and Tsunami that has rocked northern Japan all the way down to the Tokyo region...It was the largest recorded earthquake in Japanese history, and the extent of the deaths and damage is still unknown. I am praying for all of those effected by the huge quake.
I have been getting a lot of messages and calls from friends around the world that were concerned about me and my family in Japan. I would like to say thank you all for the immediate voices of care and concern. Luckily I can report that all family and friends are accounted for and safe. Besides some structural damage to my Uncles house in Tokyo things have calmed down for my family members....now its just getting through the small tremors that are still shaking Japan, and dealing with the aftermath of fear.
All the footage coming out of Japan is just unreal...so scary. Again my thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of this massive natural disaster...
Rookies have been stepping it up in the PAC-10 tourney...I hope the rest decide also to come out and play tomorrow....Zooonnnaaa, we coming for you!!!!
I'm jumping on the Charlie Sheen bandwagon cause shit is just too bomb to pass up. Check out some of my favorite songs that have come out of the Charlie Sheen interviews...the black and yellow remix is actually pretty sick..Enjoy, Happy Friday from Singapore
Sick AutoTune: will get stuck in your head
Winning: Black and Yellow Remix
AutoTune Version 2:
...is pretty much what I can say about my golf game...unfortunately in the golf world thats not a good thing. Took the day off today to hit the links in Malaysia for a little round of golf (yeah my life sucks) Its been about 3 months since I last swung a club, and it showed today with my spectacular score of 110! I always tell myself that Im going to go to the driving range more and hit up the course every weekend, but can't seem to follow through.
So I've decided I need a coach and motivator. Anyone out there have a mean golf game and nothing to do for the next few months? I am offering free rent in Singapore (condo with pool, gym, and tennis courts) and free golfing on some truly amazing SE Asian courses! Anyone??? All I ask is to get me consistently shooting in the 80's....I figure Elliott Kunugi is good target, but the offer is open to all....holler at me!
In other news; I just linked my Iphone to Blogger so you might be seeing some more tweet or status update type blogs...but it wont be as gay as Nic Berry letting the world know where he is checking in at all times....
Slow-Carb update: PAGG is the word of the week...if you dont know, you better consult somebody

PS: the asshole that owns kentobento.blogspot.com hasnt updated his shit since 2006....pisses me off that I am degraded to putting a hyphen in my blogger address cause some d-bag who doesnt live up to the name Kento thought it would be cool to blog about American Eagle, the Gap, and Snow Patrol (link to shit post). You think I can offer him something for the address?
Hey, been super busy with work...just a little post of some funnieeees that I saw..enjoy.

real blog to come

American Idol is back! And this year has hella talent! Seems like there is quite a few out of the top 24 that could straight away have record deals....who's your pick??? I dont think shes gonna win, but my votes and support are going to little miss Thia Megia....for 3 simple reasons; cute, 15, and Filipina. Sometimes my Japanese nature cannot be helped.
In other news, a new addition to the Singapore scene has arrived this week. A man by the name of Adam Weimer...seems to be pretty legit. At this point I can say he is "half Jew-half amazing." Seems that a lot of good times are going to be had in Singapore.
Though the UW Husky basketball program is pissing me off right now, I will give some props to Brockman and QPON for throwing down and getting notice on that ESPN steeze....Pride (i am going to be sooo pissed if UW doesnt turn this bullshit around and win the PAC-10 tourney)
And of course I had post a little bit of that Charlie Sheen...so many great quotes in 3 minute span! So winning...
Signed up for SCUBA classes, bout to get real deal certified. SE Asia has some of the best diving in the world and its a shame I havent been taking advantage of it. Thats gonna change...hopefully in the near future I will have some dope blogs about my new diving adventures!
In other news, I performed the my first ever GTL (Gym, Tan, Laundry) today...Pauly D and The Situation have at least added something valuable to this world. I might have to take Davis Nguyen's title of Best Chest in the West....I coming for you homie.
I leave you 206ers with an awesome video that I know my Seattle peeps will feel. Pride.
Filthy!
Im out for the next few days on business trip to Jakarta, but I wanted to just share two new things in my Life. Both have potential to be the game changers in the transformation of Bento Box.
1) The Russian Kettlebell : Super primitive looking shit, but if it works for the Russians then I am also down....plus doesnt Ballistic Exercises just sound tight? Peep some Youtube videos if you are interested in the exercises...Game on.
2) Yoga : Signed up for yoga sessions that I will be attending twice a week, and today was my first ever Yoga lesson...man, I thought this shit was stretching and relaxing, but its some serious business. Hopefully the yoga over time will help me to balance out my body and ease the mind of work stress. Ohhmmmmm....
Basically these two new things in my life are going to make this nigga real hard-core...hahaha get it, core? like the core of your body.......hahahhaaha
Jakarta talks upon my return...
Peace
Last night was the Manchester Derby, classic football (soccer) match between Manchester United aka best team ever and Manchester City...Obviously the huge rivalry makes it a big game, but also Man City has been scooping up so many players recently they are actually a strong team.
It turned out to be a very close match and some good football. In the end though, Man United was victorious thanks to a sick-ass goal from Wayne Rooney...I mean it was a seriously obscene XXX rated shot. It definitely had me jumping and screaming...
peep it.
ALSO....Let me introduce you to Scumbag Steve, we all knew someone like him in highschool or college...maybe still today. This dude cracks me up. Enjoy
During our trip to Malaysia and Thailand the big homie An-Pan Man had the brilliant idea that he would go on a diet during vacation....I clowned him the whole time for being a homo as its wasnt really the best timing to go on a girly diet, but Brando actually stayed true to it and seemed to have lost some pretty good poundage...
Which got me thinking. If the laziest man I know (possibly in the world) can get off his ass and lose weight then I need to step my game up. So in following Brando I picked up the book, The 4hr Body by Tim Ferriss, and have been trying to follow this Slow-Carb diet to get that slim and trim body. My expectations are to drop about 20lbs, but secretly I am hoping to ride this bitch out until I got a six pack....imagine Big Kento with a sixpack, I know, I cant either....but its worth a try. Cmon, if Brando can lose weight, I definitely have a shot.
So for the next few months I will be on a strict diet of Legumes (Davis, that means beans), Veges, and some meat. However, the super dope thing is that once a week I have a free day to go buck wild on some Carbs...holla. Those free days are gonna be like pasta, pizza, and sandwich orgys with milkshake massages in between. Mmmm cant wait.
peep game...
Feb. 6, 2011: Digital Bento Before Photo
Feb. 12, 2011: Example of my healthy breakfasts (Spinach Egg Scramble, Natto or Fermented Soy Beans, and Tofu) cant get more Half Jap then that
Thats what its about these days....PEACE!

The way the dawgs have been playing is pissing me off....they better beat CAL, and thats all Im saying..
Peace
PS and AZ at the top boils me even further....

Brother John Franck is one of the WASPiest dudes I know....thats why Im gonna track some of his Killer Bee moments on Facebook and post them every once in a while cause they are just too damn funny not to...enjoy the first installment of Franckisms...though Roberto brings this one all together....
My last post left off with Brando, Matt, and I on our last leg of the trip in Krabi, Thailand. Let me first start off by saying I love Thailand. I havent seen so much of the country, but what I have seen is awesome. Bangkok has the excitement city grind, Phuket has the beaches packed with working girls, and Krabi seems to be that chilaxing spot. Plus they all have great food!
Our time in Krabi was spent in the beach town of Ao-Nang. Brando was able to find a sweet spot to stay called the Sunda Resort, real proper establishment at a great price. I fully recommend it. Tight bungalows in the jungle while still being able to enjoy the comforts of things like A/C and Wi-Fi (definite musts when traveling SE Asia) If you do end up staying there, hit up the lady-boy manning the omelette station during breakfast...bomb ass eggs, but Brandos got dibs on that.
The only bad part was that we couldnt get a bungalow at Sunda for our whole stay in Krabi so we had to stay the last three days over at the shady "resort" across the street. Those last three days we acted like some Psi-U liveouts and were back at Sunda at least once a day to eat a meal and take advantage of that free Wi-Fi. You can just call me Kent Matles....and to top off the Jewness we skipped out on 2/3 the cost of our rooms at the Shady Resort cause the dude forget that we just paid the down payment...totally made up for it.
Anyway Ao-Nang was tight cause it had everything you need and want out of Thailand; bootleg shops, cheap food stalls, nice beaches, and bars. We didnt really do anything in Ao-Nang that was super amazing, but its just one of those places where you feel content doing nothing. Great lazy vacation spot.
Some trip highlights include. 1) Me winning 3 games of Catan in a row 2) Riding on the back of Brandos moped with my arms wrapped around his midsection 3) Watching Japan beat Australia in OT to claim the Asia Cup Championship title (Nippon Cha Cha Cha!) 4) Taking Brando for 5 out 6 fights on some Muay Thai betting
All in all good times were had over the long week with Brando and Kolve. Glad I got to take some time off work and enjoy a little mancation....
I've been sluffing on my blogging but next up is a post on Chinese New Years and my new Diet...coming soon
Until the next installment...peace out!
PS...I never realized before, but my girlfriend brought up that Brando looks hella like this Japanese cartoon character named An-Pan Man...It totally clicked for me. Let me know what you think
Half way through the mancation with Brandon and Matt... I have a little time and a computer so I think some updates are in order...
So the trip started out with a flight from Singapore to Penang, Malaysia. Penang is an old school port town on the Strait of Malacca...being a port town it has a lot of influences from various European and Asian cultures, which means a lot of different types of food...I would say that food is the main attraction in Penang since the city seemed quite boring and beaches werent that spectacular.
Below is a picture of the bomb Char Kway Teow
We spent two nights in Penang and moved on to the Malaysian island of Langkawi where we spent three days. Langkawi is great cause it has all the things you want in beach town; empty beaches, clean water, and cheap beer! We rented a car for our time in Langkawi and spent our time driving to various spots on the island in search of the perfect beaches to eat, drink, and sleep at. It was a super relaxing time. The nights were spent playing epic games of Catan.
Brandon and Matt introduced me to Catan and I have been hooked playing pretty much everyday on our trip. The game is super nerd style, but I love it. I would say the games like a combination of Risk, Monopoly, and Magic: The Gathering. It truly is one of those games you love to play, but wouldn't brag about it to anyone. NERDS!!!!!
Next stop on the agenda was Kuala Lumpur. Being in KL proved to be super hectic since all three of us were used to the island slow life, and the big city caught us off guard. Matt almost got his by a bus walking down the busy streets and all the street vendors were just real annoying. So we spent the night drinking Grey Goose and playing more Catan in the hostel. However 2 good things came out of the stop in KL; I got a super sweet pic at the Petronas Towers, and found a good hostel to stay in when traveling thru KL again.
We jetted out of KL after only one night and now are in Krabi, Thaland....the place seems real chill so far, and I love Thai food...more updates after my return to Singapore
In anticipation for the Hawks game tomorrow I am feeling a lot of Seattle Pride, and to feed this excitement I have been listening to some good Seattle hip-hop from local 206 artist Macklemore...I came across his work on Facebook from an old friend Tricia who Brad Hashimoto's ex-girlfriend, and also happens to be the current girlfriend of Macklemore....small world. Anyway, I'm glad I was able to come across his work cause I really like his songs and its great to see local Seattle artists repping the 206 so tough. So yeah, thats what Im doing....holler
Below are some good Seattle themed songs by Macklemore...the second video is about the late great Dave Niehaus, former voice of the Seattle Mariners....song brought a tear to my eye...videos are in HD and may take some time to load, but totally worth it. If you like these you can find more of his stuff on youtube....or check his blog which is pretty cool too...

So in an attempt to fulfill my resolution to get fit, I have signed up to do the annual Kapas Marang Swimathon in Malaysia....for those who don't remember or just didn't care I swam this 6.5km open water bad boy back in 2009. Unfortunately I missed last year due to the economic crisis, but its back on and I'm pumped to claim another finishers medal!
The swim is scheduled for April 24th so I have just enough time to get into form for the event, but this means swimming at least 3 times a week. Seems like the perfect solution to get that extra layer off the belly. Plus those hours training in the pool are perfect for getting into a great relaxed state of zen......ooohhhhmmmmmmmm....
If anyone is interested to join I highly recommend the event. 2 days of relaxed chilling on one of the more beautiful beaches in Malaysia just soaking up the sun. Then save some money by not having to pay for the ferry ride back to the mainland. Plus its a bad ass swim you can brag about. To put it into 206 language, a 6.5km swim is like from Warren G. Magnuson Park over to Heritage Park in Kirkland and then back....Holler at me people!
Happy New Year y'all!! I hope 2011 brings us all loads of money, hoes, and happiness.
I must first apologize for the sluff on blogging, actually its been so long its pretty much like I'm starting a new and fresh chronicle....a born again blogger if you will. I decided to start it up again after I looked at my "2010 in Facebook status updates" and the first thing on there was www.kento-bento.blogspot.com...neglected like a girlfriend on gameday. Pitiful that I hadn't even opened the thing since May 2010, and what hurts now even more is that I see Big Brandon Schaefer is back on the blog roll...ouch, when you lose out to the laziest man on earth its definitely a wake up call. I figure he'll give it up in a few months once he gets bored, plus he wears five-fingers, has a dome the size of Jupiter, and listens to Taylor Swift...but just wait and see who is still blogging six months from now...
Soooo I just need to figure out what to blog about....hmmm....the weather has been nice in Singapore....no wait, Seattle Sports! We seem to be on the most coldest hot streak ever, if that makes sense. Dawgs win a bowl game, Romar and the crew are skating over the Pac-10, and the Seahawks just beat the defending Super Bowl champs to move on to the next round of playoffs....if it were baseball season then Griffey pulls a Favre to come back hit a grand slam with his cock while pitching a no-hitter to sweep the Yanks. Thats how great things are going *knock on wood* I can only imagine how amped the 206 is right now. I rooting from a distance!
What else.....I just got back from 3N/4D in Bali. Me and the lady decided to take a vacation from Singapore and explore beautiful Bali. The place has it all; good food, nice beaches, temples/culture, and cheap shopping. We hired a guide to take us around, which worked out real well so if you ever need the hook up on a guide in Bali then holler at your boy. However, one thing did bring me down. As I was lounging on the beach with the shirt off, I happened to notice that big Kento has gained a significant amount of kgs or lbs. in the last few months. As soon as the blogging stopped I think the exercise did too. I look like Elliott "Pug" Kunugi after he went on that Philly Cheesesteak diet....which means I have another New Years resolution, work the fuck out. Need to get this body back from morbidly to mildly obese...thats the truth. So blogging and jogging is the new steazle.
Other than that Brando or Mr. T-Swift (I got tired of waiting...) has finally gotten off his ass and planned a trip to come out to Singapore and South East Asia. Apparently he was super busy with his job or blog or something...but the good news is that he's officially pot-commited and will be out here from Jan 19th to Feb 9th (I think) Im super pumped, and though I clown I do love my big brother Brandon. We have plans to do some island hopping for a week in Malaysia and Thailand....Sluts Beware: Black Panther Alert. So if anyone has money and free-time I suggest you think about joining!
Thats it...stayed tuned, lots more blogging to come in 2011...and since I picked up that Iphone I will try and be more tech savvy with more "in the moment" photos.
Peace!
What it is yall?!?!? Just got back from the trip to Denmark and Germany...so~~ as I munch on Haribo Gummies and while its all still real fresh in my mind, its blog time...
The journey started with an overnight flight from Singapore to Denmark, which is never fun in cattle class (budget restrictions = no business class) So Monday morning with my back aching and tired as fuck, I arrived in the great town of Esbjerg, Denmark...I guess if I were to describe the place in one word, "quaint" would be my choice. Not much more to say then that. Beyond the weather being real nice, Middle Earth type scenery, and 7am to 3pm shifts in the office, I guess Denmark was kinda what you would expect from a Scandi country. Next time I will have to check out Copenhagen...but if you are into the slow life, Esbjerg could be your spot!
Spent 4 days in Esbjerg taking care of some business then darted out of that piece with the quickness on Thursday night for Frankfurt, Germany. Man do I love Germany. The place has never done me wrong, and this time was no exception. The German portion of the trip can be broken down into 3 parts...Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
1. Friday
As this was a business trip, Friday started out with a day in the office. Took care of some major open topics at the headquarters just so I could go into the weekend feeling fresh and mind off of work! So it really starts after 5pm, when I got a pickup service from my two good friends Jochen and Sarah. They came and swooped in that A-Cl~ass Benz, baller steaz!! (As a background: Jochen and Sarah did their internships in Singapore last year, and we kicked it tough in Sing Sing so it was only fitting that we carry on the tradition in Germany. I will also from here on out refer to Jochen by his proper name, Joey Germany or Joey G for short.) So we hopped in the Benzo and were out!!
The Bosch headquarters is in Karlsruhe, and the party we were headed to was in Stuttgart about an 1hr away on the autobahn, and good chance to do a little catching up....ye~~AH!!! Once in Stuttgart we did the standard beer and liquor run, and headed to our friend Florians(another intern) pad. Thus the drinking of 1ltr Weissbier begins!!! Soon after more former interns came over to the party: the homies Heike and Sonja came thru ready to party, and the dope part was Sonja came thru with some home made Maultaschen (German Ravioli) and some potato salad. Thats some true Swabian pride...(the Maultasche was bomb.de) now with some food in the gut, it was time for more dranking, but not before the arrival of the VIP guest of the night.
The one and only Mike E. aka The Biz aka The Hurricane aka E-bizzle was in the building, and he came ready to party the whole damn weekend. The fun level just got kicked up a notch. Mike is the big homie from Seattle, and is based in Germany right now with the military..but no more of that talk cause I might get sniped...its a matter of national security son. Anyway, with the arrival of the The Biz it was time to change it up to some Vodka Bulls. There was a long night ahead of us and some power boost was much needed.
A few or more drinks and a private dance party session at the apartment meant we were ready to take our act to the big leagues. Party bus to the Clubs! From here gets a little fuzzy so I wont speak much on it, but dancing, drinking, and doner kebab all went down...and for some *cough* Mikey *cough* all went out as well. However, Mikey did come correct by hooking it up with a hotel room in the city center so we were only a stumble away to get back home from the clubs. No memory beyond this point...
2. Saturday
Waking up around noon with a splitting headache I looked around at the aftermath from Friday night that had spilled over into the hotel room. The place was trashed with litter from all the mini bar snacks, cigis, and empty drinks. Sweet! The miracle of hotels is that the mess is always taken care by someone else. Mikey woke up around the same time and in real good soldier fashion, without saying a word, walked over to the mini bar to pour himself a vodka OJ....well done Biz, well done. Me, I didnt have the courage to take on drinks quite yet but was dying for some sort of liquid. So I take a look into what they got in stock in the mini bar, and to one of the most pleasant surprises find a glowing bottle of Arizona Green Tea w/ Ginseng and Honey (seriously top 5 moments of the whole trip) I used to live on this stuff in my chiefing days...so proper
A green tea for me, and Mike was on his fourth drink by the time Joey and Sarah came to pick us up. The plan was to take the party from Stuttgart and hit up Joeys home town of Schorndorf! Schorndorf is about 20 minutes away from Stuttgart so I didnt have to hang in the car that long with the massive hangover, of course Mike was just loving life. Once there I had to play catch up to Mikey and so did Joey G...so a quick walk tour thru town with the end destination being the beer garden. Woot woot.
I am a firm believer in the beer garden. What can beat drinking a nice cold beer out in the sun on a relaxing Saturday? You're right...nothing. One of Joeys friends Frodo came by and threw some brews back with us. I realize now, the best cure for a hangover is more alcohol...cause instantly I was cured and ready to go again. A few Weissbiers some Schnitzel and we were all in high spirits and pumped to go watch the Champions League Final (Bayern vs Inter)...good time to be in Germany!
Champions League final is a big deal, and if your country is reppin then its even bigger, so obviously there was a big crowd wanting to watch the match. Joey G rounded up his boys, and his little sis, who I have dubbed Juli G, rounded up her crew as well (was all dudes, but chill peeps so I was ok). We all mobbed down to the local sports bar, where they had a ton of big screens to catch the game. Our group got two prime tables right in front...and the night begins...but with what seemed to be a slow start. The two tables were not united, and things just needed to be kicked up a notch. SO, I pulled a trick from the Brandon Schaefer guide to kicking it. Tip# 21: Sharing is caring and booze be the catalyst for success! Luckily the answer was simple. This bar had these huge beer tubes as pictured below, so the obvious choice was 2 tubes for the tables and a race challenge...gold! I think this really got it going, and it made me blew chips. Excellent indicator for tightness. Ps. At this point The Biz was there, but I couldnt understand a word of what he was trying to talk. faded.
After the sports bar, unfortunately Bayern lost, we all mobbed to the city center for some more party. Shots of Jaeger, hard core german techno pop, and scream-dancing all lead to me sleeping on a park bench in fetal position. I will also mention, though not confirmed, making a fool of myself to that list of things that happened after the sports bar.
3. Sunday
Woke in the morning feeling like P. Diddy.....more like 3 day old ass crack, but the show must go on. (Much thanks though to Joey G, Sarah, Heike, Sonja, Florian, and of course the Biz for some good kicking it!) I did my farewells and hopped on a train back to Karlsruhe to meet up with my bros Tobias and Stephan. Toby and Stephan were also doing their internships in Singapore, the group before Joey and the crew, and both actually lived with me for a few months. On the train ride my body was feeling all sorts of torn and brutalized...the whole time I was thinking, "I hope these guys in Karlsruhe just want to have a nice relaxed time." Obviously I knew this would not be on the agenda.
These guys had big plans and it included the annual Bierfest or Beer party at the local brewery, home of Hoepfner Bier. My body was crushed, but my heart was happy. Some good traditional beer, food, and german folk music. I came here for business so thats what I got down to. I loaded the body with sausages, spatzle, hamburgers (yes, original from Germany), and maultaschen to prepare the body for some brew. I swear German food is made to protect the body cause surprisingly I lasted the whole night drinking, and even made my way to the local gentlemans club in Karlsruhe...
(photo above is the brewery..is that not sick. The homie Stephan laughed at me when I called it a castle...fuck you im from the US, and to me thats a castle)
Back to the G Club...at this point it was just Toby, me, and Tobys homie Tristan cause Stephan is a good boy and did not take part in the late night activities. *cough* pussy *cough* He lucked out though cause the club was bunk. Some Eastern Euro hag was trying to charge 50euro just to sit next to me, smoke cigis, and drink diet coke. Not tight! So the rest of the night was 3 drunk dudes walking around the city trying to find Stephans apartment. And when we finally found it we couldnt get in cause Stephans drunk ass wouldnt wake up to open the door. An expensive cab ride back to Tristans place where we all curbed out. Oh yeah, Tobias puked hard in the bushes...
So there you have it. My weekend in Germany! I would have to call it a success...but I admit it feels good to be back in Singapore and resting the body.
below is a video of some nice German rap to vibe to. I heard this one in the club, and it beats. So if you havent gotten out of that high school phase and still have sub woofers in your ride, I recommend this song.
