Super heated right now, and just want to vent...

Bascially my macbook LCD screen up and went busto the other day....total blue screen. Great, at least Macs are cheap...

So I did a little diagnostics by hooking it up to an external monitor, which showed no problems so I guess its not the video card. Went to get a quote from the Mac Store for repair....my warranty expired like 2 months ago....sweet. So first they charge me 120 bucks just to check the damn thing, only to tell me the LCD screen was shot...obviously dip shit. Apple store suggestions is to replace the whole LCD, and the price of replacement?? 1,700 singapore dollars (1200usd)!!! Are you fucking kidding me?!?!!? Might as well just buy a new MacBook....Even worse is the dumb bia bia who called to explain the situation obvi knew jack shit about computers, so frustrating. For all I know it could be some loose wires, but apparently total replacement is the only option....Apple has pissed me off real good about this one.

Any mac pros out there? Suggestions? I guess I will see what a non-Apple Store repair quote is....or Youtube that shit and learn how to fix macbooks so I can charge people 1700 dollars so they can get back to watching their internet porn in HD....

serious FML moment...

AWWHHHHHWHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Another installment of the local Singapore flavor....that drunken late night steez...

Ending a drunken night with something to eat is more natural then taking a piss in the morning....Getting that bite to eat is the sign of a good night, and not remembering the food is a great night. We are all guilty of late-night snacking, and everyone has their favorite food/place for the late night munchies...

In my Seattle days we had a few regular places....Dick's, The Gyrocery, Beth's, and the old reliable Jack in the Crack...All fail proof. In traveling around I have also come across some amazing food that you would swear was created just for drunken occasions....Germany has the Doner Kebab, Japan has Ramen, and Hong Kong has dim sum...just to name a few....

Here in Singapore, late night food is abundant, but my personal favorite is Roti Prata... Basically prata is a fried dough pancake served with some curry. I guess its pretty similar to naan, but better....hmmmhmmm... What's great about the prata is that you can add fillers to be cooked inside the dough...my personal favorite is the Cheese, Mushroom, and Egg combo. How could that mix not be bomb. Originally an Indian dish, prata has become a signature dish in Singapore, and I couldn't be happier ending the night with some real deal Singapore Prata.

I have a spot close to my house that pretty much is the automatic stop on my way back from the clubs, bars, and pubs....The Roti Prata House..The place is dirty, the service is horrible, and the food is greasy.. plus its open 24hrs. Has all the makings of a great late night spot. Been there countless times, and most I don't remember...but you always know when you've been to the Prata House cause your gear from the night before has that slight smell of curry.

And its confirmed good cause I have been there during the day...sober. Jesus (my homie, not the savior) and Robert can testify to the bombness of prata....If I introduce, I also treat. So if you are ever in Singapore, prata on me!

Sorry, been a little busy at work this week.....corporate bullshit causing some major stresses on my mind, and also no motivation to blog....I tell you, I tell you, if you ever need a powerpoint expert holler at me, Bosch is the training ground for ppt. Ridiculous...

I assume its the stress multiplied by my growing hunger to move back in the good ol' U S of A....but Im seriously considering an impromptu vacation back to Seattle. I need to breathe, feel, and live the 206....that is a fact. Another fact is that a quick trip down to AZ to see my boys Brando and Roberto would be in order. Plus how can you argue with Mariners Spring training?!?!

Basically what I am trying to say is I miss the homies...I miss my family....and I miss being an American!!

If you feel me, please give me a shout. Got some serious expatriate blues going on right now.

2010 Chinese New Year has come to a close, and last night was the final big hoorah for New Years gambling....Chinese love to gamble, and that is a fact. This being the case, my buddy Ian had a few people over to his place for some good old fashioned games night...

I figured going over to Ian's for gambling meant Mah Jong or Pai Gow, but actually to my surprise the games started with Texas Hold'em, the Cadillac of poker..Its amazing to me how far the poker fever has come in the world. Needless to say, I love poker and it was a good time for me...It reminded me of Psi-U poker nights except there wasn't Chuck Dula writing faulty IOU's. Anyway, we started playing hold'em around 3pm and ended around 9pm, cause some people had to go home...pussies. But since the show must go on, we switched it up to a game better suited for four people..."Big Two" or for my fellow Seattlites "thirteens" was the game of choice.

I love me some 13's, and its so awesome that it is basically played in every Asian country. One of my favorite card games to play and bullshit around with friends...Since my days at Eckstein Middle School, I have grown up on this game. Boater squats, bombs, chops, and card slamming....hahaha I know some of you feel me on this.

The rules that are played in this part of Asia are little different from Seattle, but easy enough to pick up. Heres the link to the rules. What's awesome is that the winner gets paid out according the remaining number of cards in all the opponents hands. So shutting people down is a huge bonus! The "big two" session lasted well into the early morning....and I will brag and tell you all that I came out a winner. Represent the 206!!

All in all it was a great time drinking beer, playing cards, and talking guy stuff. Love it!

PS. If you want a translation of the title to this blog please hit up Davis Nguyen

1. Deutschland...

I recently received an email from a good German friend of mine (Hi Sarah!) who mentioned my recent joining of the blogging world...kind of surprised me because I figured most people reading were just the homies back in the States, more specifically Seattle. Got me thinking....I need to get more international with my blogs...Problem is I'm not up to date with the latest Merkel news. However, I do know that VfB Stuttgart drew 1-1 against Barcelona in their recent Champions League matchup!! Which to me is pretty damn amazing. I mean Barcelona are the reigning champs (only cause Man U blew it). I hope Stuttgart can keep it up when they play Barca at Camp Nou in the 2nd leg of the matchup. As the German saying goes, "Ein blindes Huhn findet auch mal ein Korn" -- google it

2. Gorillas in the Mist

One of my big big homies, Roberto Farris, is doing hard time in the motherland right now. Yes, Africa...its not his first time there, but he did step up his game by trying out Rwanda. What comes to my mind when I hear Rwanda is genocide..mass genocide, but I did a little research and found that Rwanda is on the come up....not only has the country made a big time recovery from its genocide days, they have Gorillas! Not G-unit guerillas but real deal Silverbacks...So recently Robby went to go find out what thats all about. Lets just say he ran tough with some Gorillazzz in the jungle, on that Jane Goodall steez. Sounds pretty dope, right? Check out this little write up he did on the experience... Mad props Rob. You totally made up for that whole Peace Corps thing....and I'll even overlook that gnarly bandana you are rocking out there in Africa.

3. Man Bag

I also want to take a little space to brag about the new Tumi bag I just picked up....I rock business meetings in style....and the Lifetime Warranty is just great. Truly recommend a Tumi to anyone looking for a sweet bag for work, or for those who just want to feel like they have a real job.

Would like to take the time to throw props to that nigga Q-Pon...cause he's just so fly. He had some good highlights on ESPN..finally some love for him, he deserves it. Check out the link.

Our last game against UCLA was a good way to show what we can do...I just hope UW can finish out the season with W's, and also pray that we take down the PAC-10 tourney....I dont think its asking too much. We have the tools to do it.

Final run for the money, and Im happy to have Pondexter leading the way....hollllaaa

Just came back from dinner with the lady...a little Sunday night date action. We went and checked out the new Ippudo Ramen that just opened in Singapore. Let me first start off by saying, I loooovvvee Ramen...its pretty much the best thing ever....really, and people who don't agree have obvi only had instant ramen. Back to it, Ippudo is a popular Ramen chain in Japan that specializes in Tonkotsu ramen, more specifically Hakata style. I'm tired so I am not gonna get into the history of ramen, but lets just say Ippudo is some heater...great stuff.

I am stoked to have Ippudo in town, and finally have a spot for me to get my ramen fix...soooo happy about this, and those that know about the Ramen should share my joy.
